Croatians have their own way of ensuring a successful vacation. They recommend the "pomalo" philosophy to every tourist.

With the peak holiday season upon us, Croatia launched the "Find Your Pomalo" campaign. The initiative aims to introduce visitors to the local lifestyle, characterized by a leisurely pace, spending time in nature, and savoring every moment. "We believe that after visiting our country, tourists will return home refreshed and full of experiences," emphasized the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board.
Croatia has long been one of the most popular holiday destinations for Poles. Situated on the Adriatic Sea, this sunny country attracts tourists with excellent weather and a variety of attractions, including charming towns full of historical monuments and picturesque beaches beloved by those seeking a blissful vacation.
As the holiday season has reached its peak, the Croatian National Tourist Board has decided to organize a social media campaign "Find your Pomalo" for foreign guests, which will last until the end of August.
The initiative aims to familiarize visitors with the Croatian philosophy of life, which boils down to the seemingly foreign-sounding word " pomalo ." Loosely translated, it simply means "slowly." As part of the campaign, organizers have already published a series of videos on social media showcasing the essence of a "pomalo" vacation – including walking barefoot on the beach at sunset, reading a book in the shade of an olive tree, savoring the taste of a ripe peach bought at the local market, and playing cards with the locals.
"We're seeing a growing interest in a relaxed lifestyle and more authentic experiences while on vacation. People want to experience the culture of the destination they're visiting, connect with untouched nature, and unwind. Through this campaign, we invite tourists to truly enjoy their vacation, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We believe that after visiting our country, tourists will return home refreshed and full of experiences," said Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, in a statement.
He also encouraged people to join the campaign by posting photos and videos documenting their holidays in Croatia on social media with the hashtag #findyourpomalo.
What is worth seeing in Croatia? While Croatia's most popular summer destinations are bustling with activity, there are still many undiscovered spots. For coastal towns free from tourist crowds, the campaign organizers recommend Komiža – a remarkably photogenic town nestled on an open bay overlooking Mount Hum .
The picturesque island of Korčula is also worth visiting; although it is becoming increasingly popular with tourists, it is undoubtedly a quieter and more family-friendly alternative to the neighbouring island of Hvar .
